Summer Solstice Celebration

  • Chubby Goat Acres 10750 Paw Paw Lake Dr. Schoolcraft, MI 49087 United States (map)

It’s party time! Well almost....We are having a big summer fling! Summer Solstice is Friday, June 21st. It's the longest day of the year! We'll be having our celebration on Saturday, the 22nd, since we know that it'll be easier for people to attend.

We have a variety of activities planned, so there is something for everyone. If you like to play sports, we'll have volleyball and badminton, frisbee, bocce ball, horseshoes, and bags. There are trails to walk through the woods, where you may see some of the deer, turkey, muskrat, woodchuck, fox, and other animals that we share the land with. For the kids or anyone with a playful spirit, we'll have finger painting, shadow drawing, relay races, and more. And of course, we'll have tours of the barn, with meet and greets with our residents who want to say hi. Once the sun goes down, we'll be lighting the bonfire! Singing, stories, trivia games, and snacks will abound! If you are having so much fun that you'd like to stay, we will have limited camping sites available (you'll have to bring your own supplies).

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

This will be a potluck event, so bring something to share. We'll have some drinks (water, iced tea, lemonade) and snacks on hand, but we'd love it if you bring one of your favorite vegan dishes.

Ok, ok, so you can't wait to be here, right? Here's what you'll need to do. First, mark your calendars so you don't forget. Go ahead and do that right now; we'll wait. Attendance at the party is $10/person, which will help us provide food, vet care, and bedding for our residents. Alright, now if you want to camp out, make sure you RSVP since campsites are limited. Our campsites will cost $25 each. Go ahead and do that, and then you can Venmo, Paypal, or send us an old fashioned check to make sure your site is reserved. Now on to the food:

• If your last name starts with A - H, please bring a vegan appetizer or side dish
• If your last name starts with I - P, please bring a vegan entree
• If your last name starts with Q - Z, please bring a vegan dessert

The event will start at 1 pm on Saturday and will go through the evening. For those of you who are camping out, we ask that all campsites be packed up by 11 am on Sunday. Please, no alcoholic beverages or dogs. Remember, we are a vegan sanctuary, so we ask that any items you bring are free of any animal ingredients. We want this to be a safe and fun event for everyone here.

We hope to see you!
